4th of July Cookout!

by Glenneth on July 5, 2012

Good morning and Happy Thursday! Did everyone have a great 4th of July? I will get to ours in a minute. Did you miss my recap of the Pilot Fireball Classic 5K? It is always a great way to start the 4th of July holiday. I see from the blogs I read that many of you did 5Ks on the 4th. Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday race!

Peanut Butter and Jenny

Let’s continue with the cool blogging challenge over on Peanut Butter and Jenny. Time for days 4 and 5.

Day 4 – If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

WOW! So many things that you could choose. I am going to say violence/crime. I believe if all violence and crime were wiped out, if would allow us to focus on the other issues at hand (poverty, hunger, etc.).

Day 5 – Post a picture of something or someone that made your day special.

This little munchkin was the life of our 4th of July get together. Why does she look like she is trying to escape? Because I was trying to get a picture with her in it of course. She wanted to PLAY! We had her and her parents (J and L) over for some ribs and salmon that hubby smoked on the smoker.

Everything was delicious. Sides were bought at Buddy’s BBQ (baked beans, potato salad, and cole slaw). Dessert was fruit and 2 types of cake (courtesy of J and L). Adult beverages were consumed.

Lots of hula hoop play occurred. I find I am not good at the hula hoop at my age. Maybe 5 times around and then down. For an almost 3-year-old (her birthday is this month), a hula hoop is a fun thing to carry around.

It was a wonderful evening. We did miss the rest of our friends (who all decided to vacation this week).

Today’s agenda includes: work (lots to do), my workout, and a massive (for some reason) to-do list. If you have today and/or tomorrow off – ENJOY! I am counting down the days til my beach trip: 14 DAYS! That’s right. I leave TWO WEEKS from today.

What’s on your agenda today? What do you do to celebrate the 4th?

Make today awesome!

We celebrated quietly at home – first time in years – took in the movie “Bernie” – a must see for anyone who likes Jack Black – he is awesome!
