Hello from Folly Beach

by Glenneth on July 20, 2012

Hello and TGIF! Today’s post is coming direct from the beach. Mom and I had a very uneventful drive from Knoxville to Folly Beach. Took a little over 6 hours. Longest I have ever driven in a day. Excited to report that my Outlander got 26 miles per gallon. Woohoo.

Luckily, we were able to get into our room as soon as we arrived. We brought all of our bags up (I think we both overpacked), unpacked a few items, then headed to the beach. I will say that the hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone seems genuinely happy.

We headed to the beach, put our stuff down, and jumped in the ocean. Hello Mr. Ocean. The water is fairly warm and tons of people were playing in the ocean. We headed out to lay in the sand, but it was impossible with the wind. Wind gusts over 35 mph since we got here. Seriously windy. So, we headed to the pool where there was a little less sand and wind.

After some time spent at the pool and an adult beverage, we headed to the room to shower and change for dinner. Light breakfast and lunch meant an early dinner. Dinner was at the Folly Beach Crab Shack. We both had the shrimp and crab boil. It was delicious. Crab, shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage, and new potatoes. Perfect dinner to start the vacation.

After dinner, we splurged on some ice cream, then walked back to the hotel. We intended to walk out on the pier, but the wind is hard to walk in. We decided to call it an early night. It’s our vacation and we can do whatever works for us.

Let me share some pictures with you:

Today’s agenda: lots of pool and ocean time! Hopefully the wind will not be near as bad today.

Don’t forget today is the last day to sign up for Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp.

Enjoy your Friday!
