Since it is going to be hotter than hell today in Knoxville, I thought it would be a great day to promote the Hotter ‘n Hell 5K that is coming up in August. As I type this at 9:55 AM, it is currently 84 on its way to well over a 100. WAYYY too hot for me. Seriously people. Stay indoors. Drink plenty of water. Check on the elderly. Do not leave kids or pets in locked cars.
What is the Hotter ‘n Hell 5K? It is a local race that supports the American Cancer Society. It truly is for a wonderful cause. Everyone is touched in someway by cancer and the American Cancer Society is working to kick cancer’s ASS. Don’t you want to help? All you need to do is run (OR WALK) a 5K.
This will be my third year participating in the race and my second year as a volunteer. I love this race because (a) it is for a great cause, (b) the race LOVES walkers, and (c) they have kick-ass shirts! Want to see this year’s design?
Cool huh? Always, always love their shirts.
This year the race is at 8:00 AM on August 11th at a new location – Mayor Victor Ashe Park. Why a new location? Because they outgrew the old one. What a fantastic reason! To be honest, I hope it isn’t Hotter ‘n Hell that day. Or at least I hope it is cooler than we are expecting today. The race anticipates over 500 runners (AND WALKERS).
Want to participate: Just go to their website at www.hotternhell5k.com. Pre-registration closes Friday, August 5, 2012. Pre-registration fee is $20.00. Deduct $5 for No T-shirt option. Late registration/day of registration is $25.00 for all participants. Day of race registration between 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Victor Ashe Park.
If you are participating – come say HI! If you are looking for a walking partner – let me know!
Disclosure: I am in no way being compensated for this post. I offered to do this when I signed up to volunteer. I have paid my registration fee and accidentally tried to register twice. Luckily their system is smarter than me.
