iPhone 5-4-3-2-1 Weekend!

by Glenneth on September 14, 2012

TGIF! Welcome to Friday! Guess who preordered an iPhone this morning? ME! I won’t have it on the first day, but I also don’t have to go stand in line anywhere. It will ship directly to me, ready to go.

Last week I had the ultrasound and Tuesday I had an MRI. I saw the doctor yesterday, and yes, it is exertional compartment syndrome. My surgery is scheduled for Friday, November 16th. The good news is that instead of 4 surgical cuts, he is only going to have to do one. WOOHOO!!! I should be back to 100% at 6 weeks. So, my goal will be to walk our New Year’s Day 5K as my first race back. I really get good vibes from this doctor and have only read positive things about the surgery on the web. I am confident this is the right step to take. My other option was just to stop walking the races and that is really not an option for me. I am only 42. I should be MORE active, not LESS active.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I have done a 5-4-3-2-1 post, so here we go!

Let’s countdown to the weekend!

5 Blog Posts I Favorited This Week

3 Reasons Most Weight Loss Pursuits Fail by Jedha – I am most guilty of number 2. What about you?

25 Minute Incline Walking Workout by Julie – Great treadmill workout to simulate hills. Can’t do speed 4? Adjust to your fitness level.

Easy Fitness Tips for Travelers by Angie – Great tips for those that travel frequently for work or occasionally. I would add if you go on a cruise, they all have fitness facilities. Plus, walking around the deck is great exercise.

September Weigh-In + Goals by Emily – I really love the way Emily lays her goals out graphically and then breaks each one down. I may have to borrow this trick for 2013.

Healthy Pantry Essentials from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition – Great ideas to add to your shopping list and includes different ways to put them together.

1 Wish For the Weekend

For the Vols to beat the Gators!!! The UT Volunteers take on the Florida Gators tomorrow and I WON TICKETS!!! Huge thanks to Calhouns Restaurant. I won 2 tickets to the game, a parking pass, 2 VIP tickets to a tailgate, and a gift certificate to their restaurant. Very cool. My friend A and I are going. GO VOLS!!!

If you are ever in Knoxville, I highly recommend Calhoun’s. They have fabulous food and the best ribs!

5-4-3-2-1 sounds like a mindfulness technique – I love it!

I’m glad the surgery should be fairly easy. It would be great to see you up and running again!

I’m trying to stay calm about the iphone 5 and not lust for it. I’m not due for another year and I don’t plan to shell out a ton to get it early.

I’m glad you’ve got your diagnosis. Good luck with your surgery and recovery. You’ve got a great positive attitude about it!
