HAPPY MONDAY! Are you ready for another week? This week looks like a quiet one for me and I am OKAY with that. We are expecting temps in the 90s. It will be a great week to work, workout, and stay inside. Running around town in this heat is just not fun. I do, however, need to mow part of our yard. ICK! The front yard is fine, but the back and sides are starting to look jungle-like. What’s your least favorite household chore?
In other news, Planet Fitness Knoxville opened on Friday. Click the link to read about opening day and see pictures. The red light therapy booth was not available on Friday as they were still working on it. It was open yesterday, so I thought I would give it a try. This is what Planet Fitness had to say about the machine:
A new piece of equipment at this location and some of our other locations is the Beauty Angel/red light therapy booth. This brand new technology uses all-natural red and infrared light, which penetrates and absorbs deep into the tissue, activating the production of endorphins, blocking pain-transmitting chemicals and stimulating cellular regeneration. Red light therapy can be used to help improve the skin’s tone and texture, while also decreasing wrinkles and firming your skin to help reverse and control the visible signs of aging. Red light therapy can also effectively treat minor muscle and joint aches.
The light is safe for eyes, however we recommend you wear eye protection, as the lights are bright in nature. The recommended usage schedule is 12 minutes per session, 3 times a week on non-consecutive days and we highly recommend using the Beauty Angel products to get the most out of your sessions, which will be available for purchase at locations with the Beauty Angel/red light therapy booths. A brochure with further information will be available at all locations with the Beauty Angel/red light therapy booths. The red light therapy is an exclusive benefit of our black card membership.
This is what the machine looks like:
It was WEIRD. That’s the only word I can think to describe it. The floor vibrates and the lights/motion make your muscles move/feel weird. It is extremely hard to describe. From what I have read, red light therapy can help improve skin conditions – including acne scars. I will probably try as recommended for a while and see if I can tell a difference. Have you ever tried red light therapy?
Ready to get motivated?
Don’t keep saying SOMEDAY I will start exercising, eating better, etc. Someday is NOT a day.
Set your goal and make a plan. Define WHEN (and again, someday is not a day).
This is so, so true. Yesterday I was bored and looking for something to do. So I went to the fridge. Yes, I know, wrong thing to do. Luckily, there is only good, healthy food in our house. There is no chocolate, no ice cream, no chips, etc. I wound up grabbing some water and heading back upstairs. You can’t eat what you don’t have.
Think long-term. Every bite. Every workout. Work for it!
WOMEN! I have posted this one before and I am posting it again. Strength training is so important for men AND WOMEN! Both Friday and yesterday at Planet Fitness, I was the only female in the weights area. That made me a little sad.
What are your plans for the week? Have you planned your workouts and set your goal?
Enjoy your day!
